OK so maybe that is not entirely true. I am sure at some point in the future I will complain/groan/whine, etc. about something to do with the bar exam, however after reading this story, I am not sure I have much of anything to do. Woman in labor finishes bar exam, gives birth less than 2 hours later
I had to rub my eyes again to make sure I was reading correctly. However I have mad respect for this woman. I cannot even imagine going through the last 100 questions [which might I add, Barbri is going to get an elaborate letter from me stating my disappointment with the lack of burglary questions, negative equitable servitudes, and negligent infliction of emotional distress questions they promised would be on there].
Anywho what an awesome story and definitely gave me a different perspective on my complaining about the most miserable experience of my life.

Bar Exam Soundtrack
So as I hit the 2 week, 14 day, 336 hour, 20160 minutes until the bar exam, I began hearing all kinds of songs in my head. I am not sure if it is because I am majorly lacking social interaction with virtually anyone these days, or that there is now an actual ascertainable date of doomsday. However I'd thought I'd share with all of you the little terrifying soundtrack that keeps on playing on repeat and keeping me awake at night.
Thanks MLJ for this one
Because lets face it, the 14 day mark started it
Because I am literally living on one [yours are welcomed]
So for the next 2 weeks, 14 days, 335.8 hours, 20154 mins, I am sure I will be freaking out, but at least there are some good tunes to get me through it.

Well Happy Birthday America
I would just like to say that I am SO HAPPY that this will [fingers crossed] be the last holiday that law school ruins for me.
I long to be doing this:
Listening to the sweet American tunes of this guy:
and drinking many American
However, I will be celebrating America in a different way this holiday weekend Yes I will be spending some much needed quality time learning everything SCOTUS [law school term for the Supreme Court of the United States] has EVER and I mean EVER said about this thing:
So for all you people who are not taking the bar, I sure hope you enjoy your BBQ chicken, your tanning & cornhole, your cold American beers, and your fancy sparklers.
Lessons Learned while Studying for the Bar
With 7 weeks already down, and 4 more to go, I have come to learn a few things about myself while studying for the bar.
1. I really really hate having long hair.
Yes with nappy roots and all. I am longing for the day that I can have about a 1/2 of a foot cut off and go back to having pretty blonde strands. Additionally my split ends have become such a distraction that the other day I realized that I had been trimming them for a hour, yes ONE HOUR, when I should have been doing practice questions. If I do not know how to gain personal jurisdiction over an organization in NC, then I am blaming my split ends.
2. I really really hate being pale in the summer.
There is nothing attractive about my pale and ghostly freckled skin. Thank goodness the library is closed on Monday, so I can attempt to look like a living person again. I dread getting dressed now, and when I say "getting dressed" I mean actually putting on make up and something other than a t-shirt and sweat pants. I must say I rock a pretty good side pony these days.
3. I have developed super sensitive hearing.
I am not sure if it is the people that talk and laugh loudly in the office next to my 12x10jail cell study room, or the girl who lives above my roommate and I who walks like she is
Every little ticking, tapping, heavy breathing, stomping, noise is beginning to make my skin crawl. I have nightmares about sitting across from someone on July 26th and 27th, who is a tapper. There they will sit just tapping their pencil, or stomping on their keyboard, or smacking their gum. I know my luck and I know that is what is going to happen. Thank goodness the Board of Law Examiners provides ear plugs [allegedly] because if not I could see myself having a freak out in the middle of everyone.
I realize right now I am not the most pleasant person to be around. I strive daily to be non-crazy, but it is a test in itself. For those 7 of you readers, the ones who see me, my hair roots, my pale skin, and my glaring eyes from whatever noise you or someone else is making, please accept my apologies.

B E A GG R E SS I V E
Be aggressive, be be aggressive. Any one else remember this cheer from your days as a high school student at a basketball game??
In all seriousness, I have slowly started to become annoyed with how people use Facebook. Yes some people post awkward ultra-sound pictures of the babies they are expecting [which is just gross], other people use it to tell the entire Facebook world how great they think they are by "how great their life is" or " I just ate at (insert the most expensive restaurant in your town here)", while others use it for ignorant political soap boxes, and others use it for my MOST hated pet peeve. Passive Aggressive Confrontation.
I CANNOT stand real life passive aggressive confrontation, but much less Facebook passive aggressiveness. If you are upset with something or someone, than be an adult and tell them, instead of hiding behind the screen of your computer like an idiot. If you have the courage to blast something to your facebook friends [who 2/3rds probably do not really like you anyways] then have the same courage to be an adult. Otherwise the person who is the target of such passive aggressiveness comes out - Duh. Winning.
Is the blog post passive aggressive confrontation? Perhaps, but its my blog I just really do not care.

Wizard of Oz.
Who knew that a spending a Saturday afternoon studying for exams at school would lead a bunch of law students into the stairwell to take cover? Nonethelss we were very lucky!
Sending thoughts and prayers to all those who lost anything yesterday in these crazy tornadoes.

procrastinators anonymous please
I am supposed to be writing a very very very long paper for a class that I was required to take. Please note the emphasis on the required part. In no shape or form do I ever plan in my legal, and perhaps, non-legal career to write anything close to what I am being forced to endure. With that said my procrastination levels have been sky-rocketing like gas prices and I have found my self doing the following....
1. Online Shopping [this is a given] but here is my favorite website right now and not just because I know the awesome girls that own it, but it has the cutest clothes and for the best prices. Run do not walk to visit this site!
www.vestique.com Here are some of my favorite things
2. Reading Fashion Blogs
I am currently loving : The Look 4 Less http://www.thelook4less.net/
[It is pretty amazing that they find pictures of celebrities or other expensive clothes, and a find Casey Budget Friendly version. I like to pretend that writing for this blog must be like playing Where's Waldo.
3. Watching Wral.com's live stream of State of NC v. Brad Cooper murder case.

No friends this is NOT this hottie.
But rather this very UN-hottie seen here.
Everyone knows I love real life crime shows, and this does not get any better. In a nutshell he is accused of strangling his wife to death and then dumping her body in a home-building construction site near their house in Cary NC, aka Pleasantville USA. There is much much more I could go into but then I would just be procrastinating writing this paper more.
4. Day dreaming about a tropical vacation.
Duhh Who doesn't?

Apologies
I feel as if I am about to do this
Between this

It makes me want to do this
If I lash out at you, or am short, or give you a look of disgust, please dont take it personal.
Prayers, words, or pats on the back of encouragement are welcomed.

Work It OUT
While reading www.abovethelaw.com , [for non-legal minds it is the perez hilton or people.com for nerdy lawyers/law schoolers] I came across an article that at the on-set maybe should have offended me but I surprisingly found it to be true. Apparently Cardozo Law is now trying to promote health & fitness for young budding women attorneys. [Note to Campbell- Stop serving Papa Johns @ every school meeting]. I do not mean to offend anyone but I think appearance [I say that loosely] can carry you a long way, with just a few added steps. Here is the entire article if you want to check it out Law School Group Urges Female Students to Get in Shape
** Note - this is next portion is not to be construed as any sort of self-centered, pompous, omniscient, I am better than you post. It is merely some observations that I have personally made in law school/courtroom/my short legal work experience, that I think would go a long way when you walk out the door from an interview to avoid the managing partner and/or office manager [if you are in public sector] and 2 associates cackling at you. IT DOES HAPPEN.
1. Girls should avoid uber unnatural hair colors
What do I mean by this? I admit my roots are about 2 months overdue on highlights. However my hair also does not look like a Kiebler Fudge Shoppe Cookie and my eyebrows somewhat resemble what my natural hair color is. Any color that resembles a Kool Aid flavor should also be steered clear of. Additionally, large and chunky highlights should be avoided as they look like my 4 year old nephew colored your hair. As a rule of thumb : "If you cannot get a good dye job, do not get a dye job at all." [and yes there are good do it your-self dye jobs]
2. Girls should avoid uber-long hair cuts.
I do not know about the rest of the world but there is such a thing as too much hair. I know some people are blessed with thick hair, but when it gets past a certain point on your back, i.e. the middle, it. has. got. to. go. If you are like me, than too much hair can be just gross.
3. Girls should avoid wearing any colored suit that does not fall into the triple B's.
What do I mean? Triple B's = Blue, Black, Brown. Grey and/or charcoal are also appropriate colors. Nothing annoys me more than a red suit. I want to scream at you, What were you thinking?? Red suits draw unnecessary attention. I also believe that white suits are not appropriate for a courtroom. I know that all may not agree with that, but they just are not. Trust me, I have heard those words from a judge's mouth before. Additional cringing colors I have come into contact with include but are not limited to: pewter, mint green, electric blue, pink [gross], anything in pastel, etc.
4. Girls should avoid white/sheer panty hose.
I just gagged a little thinking about those. If you are not naturally olive toned or you are starting to look like Casper, than do not, I repeat DO NOT wear white or sheer panty hose. Oh they look terrible. Instead opt for jet black, black opaque, or more of a tan opaque. Harris Teeter sells them in the shampoo aisle.
I'll say this once again- I do not mean for any of these points to offend anyone. These are just some general observations I have made along the way based on my own tastes, the real life opinions of other attorneys and judges, and members of the public. Because trust me, people will think about this.

More Knots in My Stomach
As the end of law school approaches, and the beginning of paying my loans back looms closer, I cannot help but wonder if I am made the right decision to pursue a public sector job, much less go to law school. After reading the article below, I find it discouraging and disheartening in going further to pursue my dream.
Nonetheless legal readers, this sounds like a serious equal protection issue if you ask me.

Knots in my stomach
For all my law school buddies, past and present, and for anyone else who has taken out a student loan in any form, please take a look at this article by the New York Times. This explains why I will be working retail, or waiting tables at Applebees, or taking a nanny position, or (insert other non-legal job here) .
